PHOENIX is a Play By E-Mail game of resource management, diplomacy, role-playing and nation building set with a fantasy backdrop. Phoenix, unlike many similar games of this nature, is not a 4 X (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) game - you will not do well in the long run with such a mind set. Instead Phoenix is a 4 D game - Discovery, Development, Diplomacy, and Domination. Each player assumes the role of leader for an emerging population starting with the grudging acceptance of their people, a small military force to protect their meager lands, and few tidbits of knowledge regarding the old ways. As time passes, knowledge will be relearned, towns will grow into cities, land will be settled, threats vanquished, and the emerging people's of Marnor will meet each another once again. Many choices will present themselves throughout the game and every nation will evolve differently.
Phoenix features over 1,200 lore each nation can learn, five different resources to harvest from the countryside plus gold and labor from the cities, the ability to manage up to 15 cities per player, and up to 50 players per game. There are over 200 different military units available for building armies and volumes of spells to cast. Each city can be managed as you construct buildings to increase tax revenue, improve the morale, law, or sanitation, and increase your resource production from the surrounding lands.
